There has always been a certain prideful feeling you get when a family member wants to tread in your footsteps with respect to their career choice. Nurses, doctors, firemen, cops, and even political careers are just some of the occupations that I can name off the top of my head where mamas would be proud to brag and daddies everywhere would practically beat their chests with a smugness that couldn’t be rivaled. So I started wondering, you always hear of these parents crowing at the top of their lungs to anyone who could listen. But what about those taboo jobs where the clothes come off and EVERYTHING is hanging and swanging for everyone to see?
I’ve come across some surprising info on who’s related to who through marriage, biological relation (mother/daughter, father/son, etc.), who love performing in front of the camera, and even sons and daughters who have picked up the “directorial” torch and made the legacy that much brighter for their efforts! I’m sure that some will surprise you as much as they surprised me.
Anthony Spinelli and Mitchell Spinelli
Anthony Spinelli and his son, Mitchell have an extremely interesting background. Not only do they have MAJOR clout in the adult industry, but Anthony’s brother Jack Weston landed many roles in mainstream film, stage, and television programming. Spinelli Senior is lauded as one of the greatest directors of his time with work that spans a generation and countless awards, including being a member of the AVN Hall of Fame. His son Mitchell wrote the screenplay to Nothing To Hide one of X-rated’s greatest adult movies. Anthony and Mitchell would go on to found Plum Productions putting out features like The Last Condom and The Mountie. Mitch went on to re-invent himself with Rain Productions and come to be recognized as one of the best gonzo directors in the industry. Although Nothing to Hide predated the AVN awards, Mitch Spinelli won an AVN Award for best screenplay for The Face. He is also a member of the AVN Hall of Fame alongside his legendary father.
Henri Pachard, Nate Woodburn & Ralph Parfait
Ron Sullivan (aka Henri Pachard) is well known in the business for success during the “Golden Age” of porn. Even though he started in the mid 1960s, the release of Babylon Pink sky-rocketed his career. This movie consisted of vignettes where the women got to play out their fantasies with uninhibited free creative license from the director, Mr. Pachard. Even though he didn’t adopt his alias until 1980, Mr. Pachard is known for not just the many titles that spanned the 30+ years of his vocation including titles such as The Devil In Mrs. Jones 2 and Blame It On Ginger; but to fellow directors Nate Woodburn and Ralph Parfait… he’s simply known as Dad.
Lasse Braun and Axel Braun
If you are a cosplay or Marvel Universe fan, or just a person who loves to watch a skin flick with kickass special effects, the name Braun is usually the first name you think of thanks to director Axel Braun. His father was none other than the trailblazer Lasse Braun. Lasse Braun’s catalyst for venturing into the adult industry was due to the struggle of finishing his doctorate dissertation while attending Milan State University in 1955. Because his dissertation contained a controversial theme – his personal views on the history of sexual repression in Western civilization, his paper was rejected. This led Lasse to rebel against what was “fun and forbidden” according to modern society and fight to make the adult industry legal in not just Europe, but all corners of the world. Since then, Lasse is known for many, many awards including being a member of the AVN Hall of Fame and the recipient of AVN’s Reuben Sturman Award in 2013.
Lasse, being the true rebel that he was, inadvertently blazed a path for his own son, Axel. Axel Braun benefited from his father’s success, but didn’t stay in his shadow at all. Although he can boast speaking five languages, is also a MENSA member, possesses a PhD in Psychology, and is an accomplished cartoonist. Braun Jr. traveled with his father learning the tricks of the trade from the bottom up as an assistant director, writer, producer, and editor, among other responsibilities. In 1996, Axel started his own series that earned him the notoriety for being the man to make all women ejaculate with his hands! Axel is also an avid movie buff… and it shows with movies like Batman XXX, This Ain’t Avatar XXX, and many more. Needless to say, this duo is the personification of the phrase “like father, like son” due to the endless acclaims they have both received.
Ben Dover and Jamie Dover
Speaking of “like father, like son,” Ben Dover is an English actor, director, and producer in the adult entertainment field, however, he’s also known under the pseudonyms including Steve Perry and Lindsay Honey as an actor and musician. After his music career started dwindling, Ben worked as a stripper under the name Hot Rod and later crossed over to porn. During his marriage to adult model and actress Linzi Drew, they welcomed their son who happens to be an English actor, Tyger Drew-Honey who is best known for his starring role in the BBC sitcom Outnumbered. Ben’s son Jamie is in the adult industry with dear old dad and can be seen in their series Like Father, Like Son, which he also helps to produce and direct.
Seymore Butts and Family
Adam Glasser aka Seymore Butts is known for creating over 100 popular adult films, and has his entire immediate family behind him it seems. Not only is the proud single dad slinging schlong in front of the camera, but his mom, Lila, and even a cousin named Steve help him juggle his hectic schedule as producer, director, and actor to manage his busy life. Butts’ family was so engrossed with his adult film career that his career even crossed over to mainstream TV with the Showtime program called Family Business. Talk about family support!
Jay Huntington and Jerry Kovacs
If you were a porn fan in the 1990s, you may remember Chance Caldwell – a gay-for-pay porn star and former COLT man who worked for a number of different studios and even received an award for his performance in Falcon‘s The Abduction II: The Conflict. Eventually Chance transitioned into doing straight porn and changed his porn name to Jay Huntington, going on to do over 250 porn scenes (including some bisexual and transsexual ones). Jay had a son in 1979 who grew up feeling proud of his father’s porn career. In 2004, Jay’s adult son decided to embark upon a career of his own under the name Jerry Kovacs. Over the years, the hunky father and son have worked together as a duo in a number of videos such as MILF and Honey #2 and Sunburn. Casting Jay and Jerry in MILF and Honey #2 was actually quite a tour-de-force, since the film was about slutty moms who are teaching their daughters about the ins and outs of skankdom!
Dirty Harry, T.T. Boy & Talon
Dirty Harry is known for being the older man hooking up with and drilling the LIFE out of young, hot debutantes! He is also the proud uncle of director and founder of Evasive Angles Entertainment, T.T. Boy, and brother to adult film actor Talon. T.T. Boy and Talon made their debuts in 1989, while Uncle Harry didn’t make his appearance until 2003 after he was a retired bus driver at the age of 52. And despite his seasoned age, Harry has featured in close to 600 movies while T.T. Boy has starred in over 850, and Talon tops them both with a whopping 1403 videos that he’s made appearances in! If you ask me, I definitely see the family resemblance once the clothes are off and the porking commences!
Sunset Thomas and Sunrise Adams
Sunset Thomas and Sunrise Adams are an aunt and niece team respectively. Like most girls, Sunset started her adult career at the age of 18. With over 100 titles under her belt, it’s not hard to understand why the busty blonde is the recipient of the 2001 AVN Hall of Fame and 2010 XRCO Hall of Fame awards. Not only is she a force to be reckoned with in the bedroom, but out of it as well. She’s appeared on the Howard Stern Show several times and in documentaries such as HBO’s Cathouse, The Maury Povich Show, and even obtained her own radio talk show on KSEX radio called “Sunset After Sunset.” She also managed to persuade her niece Sunrise Thomas to enter the business, which she did, and landed a contract as a Vivid Girl. Guy DiSilva and Will Ravage
I know, I know… keeping names straight in this business is very hard to say the least! But who remembers Guy DiSilva? Some might say he bears a striking resemblance to our 44th president Barack Obama. I know him as the freaky guy with the big johnson in all the movies when I grew up. What I didn’t know was that this man who is featured in over 1000 movies has a brother named Will Ravage. Some of these names simply give you chills (in a good way), don’t they? Guy didn’t come into the game until he was 37 and Will was the seasoned age of 44. Even though Will came in a little older, he isn’t a slouch in any way with more than 360 adult titles in his own catalog. The two are often mistaken for each other and have worked for some prestigious adult studios. Guy is even a 2009 AVN Hall of Fame inductee.
Havana Ginger and Savanna Ginger
Havana and Savanna Ginger, the sultry fraternal twins, didn’t enter the industry together. At 20 years old, Havana worked in an adult video store. She was skeptical at first when a repeat customer kept making requests for her to make adult work appearances. After mulling the idea over, she made her first appearance under the name Mika Brown, but soon changed her moniker and introduced her twin sister Savanna to the camera after realizing the serious money and life-altering career that could be made in this venture.
There are many, many, MANY more familial relationships in porn. These are just a few that are biologically related. We haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of all the possible relationships off set such as married couples, couples who were an item and have since split, fathers who have passed the torch and created a legacy, and also the mothers and daughters who have broken through the glass ceiling to create legacies of their own.
