It’s time for another porn glossary update, and this time we’re learning all about amateur porn, what it is, who makes it, and where to go to watch it. Amateur porn is defined as pornography including people who are not professional porn performers, typically made with lower production values. Okay, straightforward and an easy definition to understand, but there are questions left to answer. What’s the appeal of amateur porn and why is it so popular? Who makes it? Can known porn stars create amateur content? We’ve explored these questions previously on the blog (Amateurs Around The World & Authentic Amateur Studios From Around The World) and because our amateur category is rapidly and steadily growing, I thought it would be a great term to briefly go over again.
Within the world of amateur porn, you also have pro-am content from studios like Desperate Pleasures, Purzel Video, AbbyWinters.com, Magic Horn, Net Video Girls, AMK Empire, Immoral Productions, and Safado, whose production values (locale, lighting, editing) match those of some of the mainstream studios but whose actors are often unknown or one-timers. You’ve probably seen movies from some of these studios because they become popular themselves, but if you’re after amateur sex that makes you feel like you could have shot it in your living room there are more studios you need to know! Titles from T&A Studios, HotClits.net, BBWHighway, Erotique Entertainment, Desert Wind Videos, MixedX, Zstudio, and Taboo-Fantasy.com, just to name a few, appeal to viewers because they’re relatable from the very beginning right up to the cum shot. The cameras used are often handheld, there isn’t a makeup crew to glam anybody up, and the set is usually in the home of the creator. I find that all of these things combined enhance the fantasy when you’re watching. It’s much easier to imagine yourself in the scene when it comes to amateur porn, and I think that’s the main reason for its popularity.
