It’s difficult to imagine that a director could have the prodigious output that Jacky St. James with such an incredible batting average of sexy and mindful content. But here we are, roughly her 846th title of the year (I’m guesstimating), and it is still an A-level effort that displays Jacky’s attention to her craft: the writing, the directing, and the casting.
My Husband’s Boss takes on the heady issue of how we approach woman-on-man sexual harassment in the wake of the #MeToo movement. Does gender impact how we view the victim? The accused? Does the history of the victim color their testimony, causing it to fall short of credibility? Is it possible to untangle the unseemly ethical mess of interoffice dalliance? If a woman is the powerful one in the dynamic, is the threshold for enthusiastic consent lessened?
All serious stuff: super sexy, right? Well, luckily, in addition to being socially conscious, the movie is also steamy as hell! The movie begins with a couple minutes of set-up. Ana Foxxx is Maureen, a Human Resources investigator looking into a sexual assault and harassment claim for her company. Chris (played by Damon Dice) has accused his boss of sexual coercion in order to get a promotion. The boss, Blair (played by Jessa Rhodes) denies the accusation and implies that if anything, she was pushed too far without her explicit consent.
Scene One: Sovereign Syre and Quintin James
Very quickly we are taken to a living room where Sovereign Syre‘s character, who got the promotion over Chris, is discussing the incident with her journalist boyfriend (played by Quintin James). James is set to write about the turmoil: a statement that women as well as men are culpable for their actions, and that the power dynamic takes precedence over gender roles. Sovereign debates Quintin, but can’t resist his British charm… and the two begin snogging. This is the standout scene, in my book. Sovereign (who looks killer with her shorter hair) is sex personified. The two of them, while grinding, begin to banter back and forth in a genuine way that shows how into each other the two performers really are. Throughout the sex, they can’t help but talk about how good it all feels… and that actual delight carries over to the performance and just exudes from the screen.
Scene Two: Jessa Rhodes and Damon Dice
The next scene features the tryst in question between Jessa and Damon’s characters. I’m not normally a fan of bathroom sex scenes (because I just can’t get over the idea that it doesn’t smell bad in so many bathrooms), but this one was really impressive. Jessa and Damon go at it like demons, and there are so many positions that just require an immense amount of flexibility and strength. At one point Jessa is doing standing splits with one leg over Damon’s shoulder, while balancing on the sink basin. Damon pulls out in just enough time to pop all over Jessa’s beautiful body, leaving the two of them justifiably panting in exhaustion.
Scene Three: Ana Foxxx and Isiah Maxwell
The third scene shows Ana in bed with her husband, played by Isiah Maxwell. They’re talking about her uncertainty about the case, and Isiah is playing both confidant and support for Ana. Ana is wearing this gorgeous lingerie and chain that works so well on her it was honestly hard to concentrate on the dialogue between them. I have such a crush on Ana Foxxx it’s not even funny… and I’m sure after this scene, you all will as well. Their sex is slow and tender, the kind of loving and impassioned sex that we all hope to get in couples-friendly features like this. The two of them roll into each other, and into each position, in union that seems just completely comfortable and without pretense. It is heart-warming as well as arousing.
Scene Four: Casey Calvert and Damon Dice
The final scene begins with a plot twist that is sincerely interesting, and gives an extra little push to the thought provocation of Jacky St. James’ movie. Casey Calvert plays Chris’s wife. She is aware of his inability to keep his dick in his pants, and is aware of the situation between him and his boss. After the twist, it is clear that Casey holds the power in the relationship. As they discuss what’s going on, Damon Dice takes the sexual lead, exerting what little dominance he is able to muster. It is an excellent sex scene in the kitchen between these two, using every bit of the kitchen they were just having a chat in. Casey is one of my all-time favorites, and she does not disappoint.
It’s always impressive to me when the last sex scene in the movie can be just as hot as the first. This movie is another real feather in her cap for Jacky. And it works as further evidence that Sweet Sinner is one of the best names in the game for couples-friendly, hot features.
