It’s that time of year again, where we travel home to overindulge on carbs and tolerate our extended families. It’s not exactly a raging party of a holiday, and many might say that there’s pretty much nothing sexy about Thanksgiving. Well, the HotMovies staff begs to differ. In past years, we’ve celebrated Thanksgiving on the blog by covering the best breasts and thighs in the biz, as well as what hot-and-horny hijinks can happen on kitchen counters while you’re cooking the big meal. This year, we decided to get into the “reason for the season,” and share what aspects of the adult industry in 2019 we’re thankful for.

To be honest, and this isn’t a suck-up answer, but I am thankful for HotMovies. I am working a dream job, writing about porn, and interviewing porn stars… and I started only a couple weeks before the beginning of 2019. The HotMovies team is an amazing group of people that have been super supportive. It has been so fun to do deep dives into taboo, talk to porn stars about horror films (my other love), and interview beautiful women like Luna Rival. I might genuinely have the best job in the world!

It’s been such an amazing year! We’ve been blessed with incredible performances from newcomers and veterans alike, captivating stories from directors like Bree Mills and Kayden Kross… I could go on and on! But if there’s one thing that I’m most grateful for, it’s the guest contributions from performers to our blog. I want to thank Lotus Lain, Sydney Leathers, Jimmy Broadway, Tee Reel, Missy Martinez, Liv Revamped, JW Ties, Kay Brandt, and the countless folks who contributed to Performer Roundups. As industry insiders, their insights have been eye opening, rousing, funny, and yes: sexy! In the same vein, I’m also grateful to everyone who sat down with us for interviews this year, especially our reigning #Pornament winner, Carmen Valentina!

There’s lots to be thankful for this year. Bisexual movies have been getting some much-needed and deserved love this year, Angela White is still 100% that bitch, and new studios are just pouring in. But if I have to pick one thing to be most thankful for this year, it has to be the features and updates we’ve added to the site. We are riding a wave right now y’all! On top of now streaming in 4K, our brand-new Clip Search is amazing, and our Porn Star Facial Recognition Search is beyond entertaining. Throw in our constant fresh and new exclusives and our Porn Star Posts, and we really are the perfect one-stop shop for all things porn. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m really thankful for us this year! 🙂

This 2019 I am most thankful for HotMovies receiving Bad Girls Mafia titles exclusively before anyone else on VOD! Director Lexis Steel and Kimber Haven have an affinity for unique storytelling and a resourceful DIY and fuck-the-rest attitude that shades their titles in modern grindhouse sensibility, with more humor and way more cumshots! The genre-inspired scripts and hardworking crew invoke a wonderful mix of Annie Sprinkle and old-school John Waters. I’m yearning for their next crazy, sex-soaked adventure! 2019 has been an awesome year. I loved having some of my favorite porn stars and directors contribute original articles to the blog! Placing emphasis on performers as well-rounded individuals, rather than mindless sex objects, is always at the forefront of anything I’m editing. To actually collaborate with and edit writing from top-tier talent has been a very cool opportunity for me, personally.
In the wider scope of the industry, I was very excited to see one of my favorite directors, Kayden Kross, branch out into her latest erotic imprint, Deeper. I’ve always admired Kayden’s unique aesthetic and acute ability to build sexual tension to its boiling point in her directorial projects, and (of course) she brought those same artistic stylings to Deeper this year. Everyone’s still talking about Drive, featuring the former Boy Meets World actress, Maitland Ward.
I’ve gotta say, I’m loving the trend of porn becoming more mainstream! Let’s hope for more of that in 2020.
