Despite all of the challenges that 2020 threw her way, Emily Willis rose above it all to have a stand-out year. She’s a double threat; Emily won both of the coveted AVN and XBIZ Female Performer Of The Year awards, as well at eight other AVNs, including Best Star Showcase for The Insatiable Emily Willis. We called Emily up to hear about what she has planned for 2021 and beyond.
JH: So first of all, congratulations! You won eight AVNs, including Female Performer of the Year, and the XBIZ Female Performer of the Year. How did you feel at the end of the night?
EW: Wow, thank you so much! I was so stoked, I really did not believe that I was gonna be taking home that many awards, but I was so honored to be getting Female Performer of the Year, especially because I’ve been working so hard for that. So I was super stoked. I’m very happy; I’m still taking it all in.
What does being Female Performer of the Year mean to you?
It’s definitely something that I have wanted for a long time, so it means so much to me. I’ve always been proud, but I’m so proud to have this title, and it just gives me that extra inspiration to kick ass in my scenes and really be an inspiration to others in this industry.
Besides FPOTY, which award are you most proud of?
My showcase with Jules Jordan, The Insatiable Emily Willis won Best Star Showcase. Super proud of that. I had a lot of firsts in that showcase; I did my first DP, I did an anal with Dredd, and we really pulled through with that movie. We made it all happen before the pandemic and throughout the pandemic, so it was awesome to see it get nominated and win some awards.
How did you feel about breaking Angela White‘s three-year streak?
Pretty awesome. I’m very proud. She is an incredible performer and icon: an iconic woman. So for me to be so young and taking such a, how do I say it, valued award, is very, very honoring. I’m so proud, and it’s awesome. [chuckle] Yeah, it’s amazing.
Have you gotten to work with her ever?
I have gotten to work with Angela, not one-on-one, but I worked with her in an orgy scene for one of her movies before, and she is a dream. Her energy is amazing, she is so sexual, and she’s such a pleasure to be around. I loved working with Angela. I’d love to work with her one-on-one or sharing a guy, that would be awesome.
When I was doing my research, I saw that some of your supporters said that your win was a long time coming. Do you agree with them, or did your win come as more of a surprise to you?
I do agree with them. I had set my mind on getting this a couple of years ago, and I’ve really put in the work. I think I was probably the busiest girl last year, and I’ve shot so many incredible scenes and I gave it my all in every single scene, so I do agree with them. [chuckle] But it also is a shock ’cause you never know what AVN might decide. I’m still so fresh in the industry that you just never know what’s gonna happen. So it was a small shock, but also, I do agree with them.
HotMovies fans love girl-girl scenes in particular, so can you tell us a little bit about your award-winning scene with Elsa Jean?
Yeah, it was awesome! That was actually my very first time working with Elsa. And it was for her showcase, and she’s the sweetest girl and so much fun to have sex with. I think that in my girl-girl scenes, they tend to be a little bit more—not dominating, but I know what I’m doing—and I do tend to take the lead a little bit. So it was really fun, especially ’cause it was her first girl-girl anal experience, and I’m very experienced in anal, so I loved getting to fuck her ass and play with her and guide her through it, and it was an awesome experience. And also, the crew on set is incredible.
Do you have any accomplishments from this year that didn’t get nominated for anything, but that you’re still really proud of and wanna celebrate?
This last year, I was a Fleshlight Girl, which I’m very proud of. Most of my work got nominated that I was really proud of, I really took my time in nominating myself in the movies that I felt I wanted to have recognition. And a lot of my Evil Angel work, I would say also is really awesome. I love gonzo, so I feel like those movies really usually bring out a lot of my best work.
The pandemic threw a lot of challenges our way this year. What did you have to overcome this year to get where you are now?
It was definitely a bit strange when the pandemic first happened because I was so used to being busy all the time and shooting all the time. It was very weird for me to all of a sudden have to be home for awhile. I took that time to really focus on my own content and figure out my own brand. It was nice, but it lasted for awhile. And going back into shooting after that little break, I would say that it was mainly just a matter of figuring out how often I wanted to shoot and what felt safe for me, but for the most part, every company that I worked with was incredibly safe and did their best to make sure that everything was sanitary. Obviously, the testing is crazy. I would have to be testing every single day almost and shooting every other day, or every single day for awhile. So it was definitely a change, but throughout the pandemic, I think that I managed myself pretty well.
Did you take up any new hobbies or skills or anything while you were in quarantine?
Yeah, whenever the quarantine first happened, I really got into painting for awhile, and just explored a little bit of my more artsy side. I really got into yoga, and I love decorating. I really got into decorating my place; I rearranged my shoot room so many times. So definitely that and just trying to be outdoors as much as possible.
I’m curious, because I do art too—what kind of work are you making?
Acrylics, and I usually do watercolors, too. I found so many mood boards on Pinterest, and I had this really cool piece that was a yin and yang sign, and then on the one side, it had a bunch of quotes. So I’ll just try to find inspiration and then try to make it my own.
Are there any other performers that you kind of modeled your career off of?
I’ve always looked up to Riley Reid. I love her personality and the way that she carries herself. She’s so successful, but she’s the sweetest girl, and she stayed all-natural, which I love. I’m planning to stay all-natural. Same with Angela, she’s very inspiring to me. She’s such a businesswoman and she’s all about her business and her branding, and she’s a pleasure to be around, so I really look up to that. I really look up to performers who are genuinely and authentically nice when you’re around them, even with all their success.
Now that you’re kind of a role model in the industry yourself, what advice would you give to performers who are just starting out now?
I would say to always stick to what you feel is best for you and your career. If you feel you’re shooting too much, take time for yourself or just slow it down. It’s good to have good communication with your agency and let them know your wants and needs, what you feel comfortable with, what you don’t feel comfortable with. And just being nice. [chuckle] I know that it can be competitive sometimes in this industry, but it’s good to be nice to other people.
What’s your favorite roleplay scenario?
I gotta say I love the step-daddy roleplay. I love being submissive to men and women, I like older women the most, so I love that roleplay. I also really like the secretary roleplay, just because I like dressing up as a secretary. I think it’s sexy. [chuckle] So those are definitely my favorite roleplays.
You’re a Capricorn Sun, Aquarius Moon, right?
I’m all about astrology! So I’m a Capricorn, and then my rising is Aquarius and my moon is in Taurus.
What signs are you most attracted to and why?
Aquarius… yeah, definitely Aquarius. I get along really well with Geminis, Virgos, Tauruses as well, and then Leos.
What are your goals for 2021?
I would love to get my website officially launched. I’ve been working on that for a little while now. I’m so busy, though, that it’s been this thing, but I would love to officially get my website going this year, and that should be going soon. I would love to obviously put out more great content for my fans. There are some companies that I really would like to have a showcase from. Another thing is I would like to focus a little bit on my content for my website, setting out some good production scenes, ’cause now I’m starting to get a feel for who I want shooting my stuff and the kind of stuff that I like shooting. So I would like to do that. And then I’m working on a house right now. So those are my goals.
What makes you feel sexy?
I love a good lingerie set. [chuckle] Lingerie. I have a huge stocking fetish, any time I’m wearing stockings or tights, I feel very sexy. Glasses are super sexy. I love dressing up. I love getting to dress up, it makes me feel so sexy.
Any final words for your fans at HotMovies?
I would like to give a huge thank you for all of the support and all of the love. I have some incredible fans who are all so supportive of me. And definitely keep an eye out this year because I have a lot of exciting things happening and I’m very excited to be Performer of the Year.
