Erika Lust Films shows us again why they are one of the leading voices in true, progressive erotica. And director Casey Calvert continues to expand on her already-impressive filmography as an adult auteur. Rose is beautiful, Rose is delightfully slow-paced, and Rose is erotically romantic as all get-out. Our latest exclusive from Lust Cinema is Rose, the sequel to Grace.
Clip 1
The film opens with a super-sensual threesome. Slow and tender and set to folksy acoustic guitar, the sex in this clip sets a tone for everything to come. Grace (played by the enchanting Ravyn Alexa, who reminds me a little bit of Rosario Dawson) is in bed with a couple played by Abigail Mac and a dude named Zac Kurtz (I haven’t seen him in a video before, but I think he knocked it out of the park). The trio make out in the soft, warm light over a soundtrack of folksy acoustic guitar. The camerawork is largely handheld, and between that and the slow and organic way in which the throuple go about their lovemaking, it has the air of an authentic encounter. It is tender but also very playful, and that is key. Ole Jeffton’s never been in a super serious or solemn threesome. Wouldn’t you, too, just be having too much fun not to giggle a little?
Clip 2
Calvert makes some really interesting decisions here with her movie. Grace flies to Nashville to visit her friend Nadine (Kristen Scott, who has a hip brown ‘do and has joined the pit-hair club). While they have a great time together, there is romantic tension. One night they decide to stay in and bake a cake together. The fun little activity turns to a night of passion as they start kissing in the kitchen. Things move to the bedroom. Some clothes get taken off. And then… morning—no real nudity, no wild pent-up sex—just the afterglow. It’s daring, but a wise move.
During the time getting up, Nadine is getting ready for work and acting distracted. They’re texting some dude named Wes about coming over. And Nadine’s doing this with Grace looking up, naked, from the bed. Nadine lies and says they’ll have to work late. So instead of seeing this burgeoning romantic development, we see who Nadine is already starting to step out on Grace for. Wes, played by Owen Gray (one of alt-porn’s biggest heartthrobs), has Nadine/Kristen’s number. Their sex is passionate and vigorous. Owen repeatedly turns Kristen into a shuddering, shivering, moaning mess as he sensually pounds away. While there is some edge to this scene compared to the others, it is still tame enough for the most sensitive of porn watchers. It is just flat-out hot.
Clip 3
Nadine comes clean about being dishonest. An argument ensues, and Grace makes her way back to the airport on her own with no heads-up to Nadine. Nadine walks in from work to an empty apartment and nobody to give a bouquet of flowers to… but Grace ultimately comes back. The two reconcile in a sweet and sexy scene of licking and rubbing and caresses. They tease each other as they get one another off. The cumming is world-rocking and genuine. It is an absolute joy to see performers really having a good time with one another. And it is a really sweet scene—a terrific way of wrapping up such a touching little flick.
