Maya Woulfe is one of the fastest-rising new starlets in the XXX world today, but as I just discovered, there is more to this model than what we see on the surface. Since day one, Maya has been sought after by many agents, fans, and producers. That suits this Arizona-native beauty just fine, for Maya Woulfe operates like a well oiled, sex-and-business-machine. She is a woman striving for perfection in all she does and with each passing day, this starlet’s filmography grows in multiple ways. Not just in terms of films produced, but with variant roles, characters, and different fetishes. I have used the term “XXX chameleon” to describe some of the greatest models and actors in the history of this business, but it has been many years since I have met a starlet with this much talent, with this many forms of artistry within her brand—all in year one. This performer’s driving force and what got her to take the leap into this industry headfirst is her real-life love for sex. It is the inspiration behind so much of what she does inside and out of the XXX film world. After sitting down with her, I cannot express to you what a privilege it is to showcase Maya Woulfe and her budding porn career.
DJD: Maya, I cannot think of any new starlet who has the ability to create such an illusion as you can. I was so thrilled to research you. It was like watching a magic show in so many ways.
MW: Thank you, that has been my goal since starting, building a brand. Then, trying to make it as big as I can.
You are off to one hell of a start. I had a close friend who is a director point your work out to me and I see the fetish play, and the modeling with so many looks and feels. I just keep getting more and more impressed.
Thank you. I have so many different things coming out for my fans too.
There are so many directors who have told me that they have something coming out with you. I find it even more cool that they are so enthused to tell me such things. I am so excited to see what happens next.
Yeah, me too. It is going to be a good year. It makes things so exciting for me going into year two.
A true industry “newbie” who is in her first year? I mean her real first year! I have been in this industry a few years and I will tell you, most performers do not even reach where you are until year three. If they are lucky, year number two.
Wow!
There is a three-year window that almost every performer must endure in order to just begin to start breaking even and turning a profit. It is when producers notice you, as well as fans from around the globe. It is when you come full circle in some ways. So, to see you do this in eight months, I am blown the fuck away!
Yes, I feel very fortunate to have started off my career the way that I did.
You know, there are many things that got me jazzed to be a part of this interview with you. One of the things I was so enthralled to read about was that you are a writer…
I have been writing for a couple of years now. Now, this is the first script that I have really set my mind to. I don’t know if you have seen some of my recent tweets, but this is really the first script that I have ever written.
No, I have also learned that you are a poet too. How long have you been writing poetry?
Well, the book that I am working on now, I have been writing within it for a couple of years now. Before that I would actually write here and there, but this was the very first time that I actually sat down and things just started to pour out of me. Well, you are a writer, you know what that is like.
They say you can see a person’s aura the most in the things that they write. It will be what emanates their soul in many ways. When I first started to get ready for this interview, I saw the taijitu tattoo on your leg, as well as this deep-seated love for Shibari, and you were a dominatrix on top of that.
Thank you and you are so right!
I see your pictures, your tweets, those written entries from your mind for the public to see, and what is displayed? An understanding of both light and dark. I see so much understanding of the things that common man takes for granted in all you do.
Yes, there is light, there is dark, inside every single one of us. It is also about perspective. Everything can be viewed as something, depending on where you are standing.
That is what people do not understand about the yin and the yang. To some people, what they see as dark, is something of pure light to someone else.
My point exactly!
I loved that Peter Warren of AVN called you the “She-Wolf” from Arizona. I can see that you inspired him to add a poetic swing to that article at AVN. Not many people can inspire Peter Warren in that way.
Really? I would have never thought that.
Okay, now time for the first and only boring portion of this interview, because I know that you are going to be asked this question many times in your career: tell us how you found your way into our amazing industry.
Well, you knew that I was a Dominatrix. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, everything just kind of shut down, including this fetish dungeon that I was working at. I loved working there. It was a dungeon that also specializes in boudoir modeling. I think you saw a few pictures that I posted, shots with lingerie and things like that. It was here that I took all of those photos and I started my OnlyFans.
I saw the Instagram following that I had and that also played a factor in my decision to build my OnlyFans as well. Then, I started to make clips with someone that I was dating at the time. It was then that I started to get heavily recruited by a couple of modeling agencies. I was living here in Los Angeles, and they wanted to fly me out to Florida. There was just something that just did not feel right and I am glad that I did not start then, because right after all of this began, coronavirus hit. No one could work, no matter their profession.
It was right around July or August of last year that I had Motley reach out to me, as well as ATMLA. I also had a company here and there that I reached out to. I was looking hard at the offers that were in front of me, reading their contracts. Most of them were offering a three-year contract and I just was not sure that was the length of time that I wanted to sign for. So, I started to do a little bit of research on the industry. I went to a few websites and I found out who the top girls were, and who were the agents that represented them. A lot of them were with Mark Spiegler. From there, I said thank you to the companies who reached out to me and I sent my modeling portfolio to Mark. From there, we set up a meeting, went onto a few sets after that, and the rest is history.
Spiegler is the perfect fit for a woman like you. Mark is just always the guy who knows how to bring out even more out of the performers who strive for something bigger. You are already at this solid place with the start of your career. I look at Mark and see a man who will give you the wisdom you don’t have and look to make you even better in all that you do.
Yes, and again, I feel very fortunate to have started my career the way that I did.
It doesn’t matter if your name is Jenna Jameson or Maya Woulfe, we all begin in this industry somewhere. Those agents were all chasing you because they saw your potential. What I see is Maya Woulfe being a household name ten years down the line.
That has been a goal of mine since I started. To be like an Angela White, or a Riley Reid, or Abella Danger. That has just been one of my biggest goals. To become something like Sasha Grey…
What is your forte in the industry so far? Is it gonzo? Is it a bondage shoot? I would love to know what you look forward to the most when being cast in a production.
Honestly, I love all of it, and I love every single one of them for different reasons. I got to shoot for Kink for the very first time a couple of months ago, and it was something so amazing. The shoot was so unique because I had never experienced BDSM on-camera before. I had never filmed a scene and I think that is what made it fun and exciting in its own way.
Now, when it comes to gonzo, I just really love to have sex. What else can I say? Yes, I am a woman who understands that you have to have a business mind as well, but getting to do gonzo stuff—where you just show up on set and fuck—that is just so awesome to me. Before porn, I never really did much acting. I just never stretched that muscle. I found it to be so exciting and fun. I’ve done two features now and it was awesome to be a part of something that has real value to it. Not that all the things we shoot in the industry don’t, but shooting a feature… it just brings out something more.
One of the first things that caught my attention on your Twitter page was this description that said: “multi-medium artist.” That word, medium, just is not used as much as it should be these days.
Well, for a while, I had multi-genre artists within my profile. Then I realized that I not only work in different genres, but different mediums. I think that is more encompassing of what I do. Which is now acting, writing, modeling, and I also do digital art as well. There are a lot of other things too. So, “multi-medium,” it just felt like the most inclusive term that I could find.
The reporter in me, I see something deep within you. I assume that maybe there is a painter within you? Maybe a musician?
Yes, I am a painter. I do fluid acrylic painting mostly. I have a musical side to me too and I will tell you, there are two musical instruments I am looking at right now in the room that I’m in.
I come from a family of many types of artists. I have always wanted to play the guitar but I don’t have the fingers for it. I have always wanted to paint… well, I should say that I do paint; I just fucking suck at it.
That’s funny. The thing that I like most about painting is that there is absolutely nothing technical about it for me. It is all about putting a brush to the canvas. I don’t think that you can say that you suck at painting. I have found that when I say that I suck at painting, I’m not being fair to what the art really is. It is about pouring paint onto a canvas. It is that plain and simple. It’s meant to be loud and messy. That’s why I don’t think that you can be bad at it. It’s just so abstract, honestly.
You are so right by the way. Painting, it is about putting down your heart and soul into what it is you are doing. That is the true art, not the brush strokes and how pristine and perfect they are.
Yes, and I am, in a lot of ways, sort of a perfectionist. So, having an outlet like that, where you can just get messy, where there is no way you can do anything but keep painting, it’s fucking great!
I knew you were a perfectionist. You have to be when you are a writer.
It can be annoying at times and sometimes it causes me to procrastinate.
I am glad that you know this at 25. I am so different now than when I was in college. Working from home, it basically had me putting on 45 pounds, and it all came from writing and the procrastination that comes hand-in-hand with it. It’s easy to give into both that and your perfectionism, because now you have the time to do it.
Yeah! I will tell you, I got really distracted in the first draft of the script that I wrote. It’s really so hard for me to rewrite this thing right now. The reason I spent so much time away from rewriting, I was spending a lot of time with my mentor and she was showing me all of the things that I did wrong. I was spending so much time thinking about the things that I needed to do in order to make it right.
The thing that I recommend to all aspiring writers is to do what I did. When I moved into my house and set up my office in the basement, in the beginning, I only set up inspirational things around me to help me work. Since year one, which was more than a few years ago, I moved my laundry room down here, I have my weights, my exercise equipment, everything so that I can function out of my office 100 percent. I recommend doing the same. It will help, I guarantee.
I kind of did the same thing when I moved into the apartment that I am in now. I am setting everything in here to be exactly what you have, my office space. Now, I see that I need to combine that into my creative space, just like you said.
Turning home into this wonderful place you can rely upon is the least-cheesy thing you can do in life. Then, when you do that, time will fly by.
Definitely, I work from home a fair amount of time. It has become a fun task to find things to keep myself busy. I set up everything so that I can move from one thing to the next when needed. I have my instruments set up over here, I have another place dedicated to a spot where I can go onto Twitch, etc…
What can you tell us about this upcoming project you are working on for Lust Cinema? It is so exciting to see another female performer going into production. You and Casey Calvert, you’re both are going to change this business from the ground up.
I actually look up to Casey so much. That is who I was talking about when I was speaking of spending time with my mentor; I was referring to Casey Calvert. I can’t wait to be able to work with her on this project. It is actually the script that I am working on now. I have actually done two Lust Cinema features. One of them, it has yet to come out. The first film, I actually shot with Casey. Then, the other that I did, I starred alongside Oliver Davis in it. That film, we shot out in the desert. The premise of the story goes that he and Jane Rogers are lovers who get into a fight. He then ends up in the desert and is transported back in time into this old Western town, and that is where he meets me. This scene was so fun to be a part of. Oliver comes into the saloon and here I am sitting there. This bounty hunter tries to come up and fight me and Oliver gets in-between us. Things end up getting crazy and I end up bashing this buy in the face with a gun. Then, my character takes Oliver upstairs and I clean him up and ask, “Why are all the bounty hunters after you?” Then we have sex.
Oliver then wakes up the next morning and I am not there, but it is more than that. He wakes up and he is back in the present and he goes outside after waking up what feels like a dream. He walks to his car and starts to see that he is in the same town, just in modern times. He gets in his car, he drives by this hotel, and here I am again. Now, I am a modern day call-girl and as he stops in front of me, I say, “Hey, is there anything I can help you with?” It was so great. Just beyond great. It was so much fun and I hope the fans enjoy it.
I just love those types of productions. Erika Lust and Casey Calvert, they are two people that will change the world. Now that you are writing scripts for them, I think that the XXX rating can finally live up to all that it has been capable of.
I agree. The way that Lust Cinema creates everything, it has the feel of a movie with sex included within it. That is something that will appeal to so many people. In my eyes, some people have a problem with adult films because it is nothing but sex, and they feel ashamed about watching just sex. I feel that if we can make films like this, that don’t just insinuate that people are going to have sex, like they do in the mainstream film world, then we can make porn feel a bit more normal to those people who feel shame.
I agree. We at times forget that people like this cannot be excluded. Porn, adult entertainment, it is fun to watch. It is an escape like any other form of film. We are always vilified as if we are all bad guys running cameras and the men and women of the industry are doing this all unwillingly. I think what you are all doing is making the dialogue something so much easier to talk about among the common soul who walks this earth.
I hope that I can at least change the narrative with people outside of the industry, of what it means to be a porn star. In many aspects of this life and world, I think people believe that we are all people who have been downtrodden and forced into working. Or at a minimum, that we do not enjoy doing what we do, and that is just so wrong. Yes, there are some people who are here only for the money, but that isn’t everyone… not even close.
Yes, I agree. Being a man who was born hypersexual, there are few places where a person can go to ask questions about the curiosity that they feel within themselves. It is such a refreshing thing to see a performer whose motto is, “I am in this industry because I love sex!”
Loving sex, it makes my job easy.
When you commented on a post of mine about Casey Calvert’s latest creation, Primary, I had to find out how you guys first met, and how she became your mentor and friend.
Casey is great, I am so glad to have met her so early in my career. She and her entire crew, they are just so wonderful. She is one of my favorite people to shoot with. The first time that I shot with them, I believe that it was for Girlsway. If memory serves me right, with Jane Wilde and Aila Donovan for All-Girl Massage. Then, I worked with Casey again right after that. Where Jane and I shot a scene together where it was just her and I. That was the first time I worked with her and her entire crew… Mo Reese, her PA, which I learned had been with her a long time, all of them have, really. They then became the first people that I shot my first feature with. This was also right when I shot my first Pure Taboo scene as well. I cannot remember which one came first now.
I was so glad when I finally had that scene of yours with Jane put onto my desk. I was ecstatic to finally be able to professionally review you. It is not just that so many people talk about you in the industry with such respect and positivity. I think every critic wishes to see something unique. In that scene, I saw that you could play multiple types of characters. That took the scene to a whole other level. You are a chameleon when it comes to the way that you perform.
Thank you for that comment. When I said that Casey Calvert is so understanding, it’s because she’s been where I am.
You also have this deep love for fetish. Like Casey, you are this brilliant mind that I think understands an even deeper wonder of the human mind, emotions, and sexuality with your shared passions. You both are such great linguists and deep souls, that you make it easy for other “normal” people to come out into the open and say, “Hey, I like BDSM too.”
I think that BDSM, kink, and fetishes are things that can be so healing for people and can come from so many places within a person. It comes from a place of fun with a lot of people, but it also comes from a place of taking power back into your being from other things. It is about learning to understand places that were once not enjoyable to you. I don’t think people looking from the outside in would be able to understand a statement like that.
You are able to sum up so many things that so many of us just cannot put words to. I discovered fetish and BDSM through the greatest love of my life. It is mind-opening in ways I never dreamed possible. That power and trust exchange, I don’t think anyone from the outside could understand such a thing until they discover it themselves.
Yeah, it is a whole other world in there honestly. I think that there are so many sides to it as well. Myself, having worked in a fetish dungeon, and being a Dominatrix, you see so many different aspects of it. There is nothing that is more interesting. It is very intriguing to find out what “fetish” is for some people, because it is different for everyone.
It is! To tell you the truth, I thought I knew what romance was until I discovered aftercare. I am not ashamed to say this: there is nothing like snuggling and healing someone that you love for what always turns out to be hours on end. Holding someone in your arms, bonding at that emotional level that is filled with so much intensity and love. When you can reach a level where you are both in tears that come from all sides of your brain and being, there is no experience like it on earth.
Seriously, it is just this whole other level of connection. The world itself is built upon connection. It is an attitude that I wish more people outside of the community would have. There is so much more judgment twords that part of the industry and lifestyle. We are all strange in some way.
That is a truth of consciousness and humanity that few ever realize. Here is how you know that you have found someone special; they allow you into their weird world, and you feel safe to let them into yours.
Yeah…
It is just so educational to speak with a person like you. Okay, last two questions and we are going to stay on the theme of directors. I have seen that your filmography includes a few productions with Quasar. I love and respect that man to death. Here is what I picture when I see you two working together in my mind… You are in, you are out. The shoot location was rented for five hours and Maya Woulfe and Mike Quasar get things done in two.
He is just great. He is actually the person who shot my first scene ever! It was a scene with Vanessa Sky in She Loves Oil, from Zero Tolerance. Which was great, because the day before the shoot, Mark had told me, “This guy is great! You are going to be in and out in two hours.”
That is so fucking funny dude! He even said two hours!
Yes, it literally took two hours. I showed up on set and there was literally no dialogue. Just Vanessa and me pouring oil all over each other poolside. Then, we went inside and just fucked each other on the couch. It was such a fun day and it was just the easiest introduction into everything. Then, Mike shot my second ever boy/girl scene. He was supposed to shoot my first boy/girl scene, but that ended up being rescheduled. We shot the second scene literally at the same location. Then, we shot a scene with Tommy Pistol. It was a stepdaughter/stepdaddy scene in Who’s Your Stepdaddy 4. I can imagine that you already get the humor in that with Mike Quasar if you follow his Twitter account.
Oh, my God, that is so hilarious! I don’t know if you are a Simpsons fan, but there is this old episode where Krusty the Clown arrives at a sound studio to record all his dialogue for his Krusty the Clown action figure, or something like that. The gag is that he shows up in his sports car. Runs inside the studio and blurts out all the lines for the doll in about six seconds, and then runs out of the building just as quickly. All while the sound tech is saying, “Okay Krusty, we are ready for you.” Meanwhile Krusty is long gone, but not before telling Lisa, “This is how it’s done kid, watch and learn.” That is so Mike Quasar, but better, because he actually gets the project done.
That is the amazing thing about mastering a craft. It took him years to be able to do all of what he does within two hours. He is just so good at what he does.
He is an amazing man, a true artist. He is an even more amazing man than people outside the industry will ever know. Mike is one of the only men in this industry I look forward to sitting down and having a drink with. We are so blessed to have him in our industry. For any fan who watches those scenes, you will see that everything just flowed with you two. They are true works of erotic art.
Yeah, again, he is just great.
To switch things a tad for the last question, I would love to include a male performer. I saw that you got to work with Mick Blue when you got to work with Evil Angel. My psychic intuition tells me that when you two got together, it again had to be a unique experience on set.
Mick, he is great too. He also shot me in one of my first scenes. He shot me with another company and then we got together to shoot the scene with Evil Angel and BAM Visions. We did Evil Angel Uncut together. That was so much fun, I mean a lot of fun. He is just a really, really great performer.
Did you ever watch porn before you got into the business?
I watched it, but not like I do now. Back then, I didn’t follow it like I do now. I didn’t watch it enough to know who people were, you know what I mean?
Oh, yeah. Mick is the ultimate male performer. He is the guy who can make something as simple as kissing just as orgasmic, sexy, and mind-blowing as any other part of the sexual encounter when he is onscreen. He is one of the only male performers who can do that.
Yeah, I guess you are right.
If I weren’t paid to watch films, Mick Blue would be male performer that I would choose to watch every single time.
He is a great performer. There is a reason why he has been around as long as he has.
Oh, yeah. Once again, it’s all about these great people who make these great productions. You know, I clocked us in under an hour, yahoo! I want you to know Maya, you are a person who I could just sit here for hours and talk to. You are the real deal. Thank you so much for your time. Is there anything in closing you want to tell the HotMovies readers?
I really want to let the fans know about my big upcoming projects with Lust Cinema. I am so excited about all the work I am doing with them. The scripts, the acting, everything. I have been working really hard on all of these upcoming projects, so please, keep your eyes peeled!
“Maya Woulfe is one to watch out for. She’s incredibly smart, incredibly talented, incredibly intuitive. When we were shooting Spark, I kept forgetting it was her first feature. Maya is effortlessly professional, and naturally does things to make her performance better that some veterans still don’t know to do. She has such a bright future ahead of her, and I absolutely cannot wait to see where her career takes her.” – Casey Calvert
