This Throwback Thursday is based on a true story! (Well, mostly anyway…) Golden-Age star Carol Connors was trying to make a name for herself in mainstream Hollywood in the 1970s before she was cast as the nurse in Deep Throat. As she began appearing in more adult features, she got the opportunity to appear as hostess on the popular late-70s game show, The Gong Show. This crossover moment for the adult industry is parodied in Candy Goes To Hollywood when Carol (as Candy) traverses the sleazy world of Hollywood casting and eventually finds herself on “The Dong Show.”
