Many have tried to recreate the magic of Gerard Damiano‘s 1972 classic Deep Throat over the years with varying degrees of success. It wasn’t until legendary director Paul Thomas and Vivid Entertainment teamed up for the modern-day adaptation in Throat: A Cautionary Tale that fans and industry members alike agreed that there was finally a comparable version for today’s porn audience. Starring the incomparable Sasha Grey as a woman whose life is plagued by the fact that her clitoris resides in her throat, this movie deviates from the original film in tone; while the original was a comedy, Throat is an epic drama.
When Sasha’s character discovers that the key to her sexuality lies in her throat, her boyfriend begins to push her to extremes. First, they visit a peep show, then he makes her see private clients, and eventually he makes her work in a sex club. Tired of being used for her sexual abnormality, Sasha eventually breaks and bites off the dick of the biggest male porn star in history, which leads her to an unfortunate fate.
This movie won awards for Best Screenplay, Best Oral Sex Scene, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Overall Marketing Campaign at the 2010 AVN Awards show. The screenplay holds up so well that there’s even a softcore version for those who want to watch simply for the plot.
