Writers' Roundup: Favorite Whitney Wright Directorial Feature

Every so often the adult industry is blessed with a true double-threat: someone who is just as talented at performing as they are once they get the chance to direct. These double-threats can create some of the absolute hottest work, considering they know everything it takes to put together a good scene from both sides of the camera. One such double-threat whose work we can’t get enough of is the incomparable Whitney Wright. She began directing in 2016, and by 2019 already had her first Best Director credit—and rightfully so! Whitney’s consistently put out well-loved movies and scenes from top-performing studios, and her latest release from Dorcel is no different. Check out Torn on HotMovies, and our staff picks for favorite Whitney Wright features below!

Whitney Wright

Bridget: Obeying Instinct

Obeying Instinct

Ever since Whitney Wright began her directorial career, her ability to portray the “taboo” in a more-sexy-less-creepy light has made her work for studios like Missa X and Pure Taboo stand out from the pack. Her adeptness at navigating the “family fantasy” category is especially showcased in Obeying Instinct. Bridgette B. and Seth Gamble are former lovers—and stepmom and stepson. Sharing a roof and being among their current respective romantic partners leads to a whole lot of pent-up tension that Whitney lets build up deliciously for that inevitable hot, hot release. I don’t normally go for these scenarios, but this one was too good to deny!

Ed Mann: Path to Forgiveness

Nominated for nine AVN awards including Best Directing, Best Screenplay, and Grand Reel, Path To Forgiveness was written and directed by Whitney Wright for AllHerLuv. The story follows Cadence Lux who is forcibly detained at a “conversion camp” to try to cure her lesbianism. The production values are top notch and the story progresses at a natural pace as we find out the backstory for the other attendees. Wright does a good job building the plot along with building up the sexual tension. It is a very well-put-together feature film, especially for someone who in the early stages of her directing career.

Stoney Rubble: Teaching Her Some Discipline

Teaching Her Some Discipline

Director Whitney Wright was at her kinkiest with Teaching Her Some Discipline from Pure Taboo. Whitney gets some really effective performances from Gia Derza and Derrick Pierce. It’s really well-shot, and there’s an unsettling chemistry between Derrick and Gia as Whitney gets her camera above and below each smack that lands on Gia’s squirming body from Derrick’s palm.

Authentic Lesbian: Seasons

Seasons

Whitney Wright is an amazing director with a steady growing catalogue to prove it. She’s worked with a variety of studios and lightning is caught in a bottle every time she works with AllHerLuv. Seasons is my favorite because the cast is incredible (it’s hard to top Angela White, Giselle Palmer, and LaSirena69 all together) and Wright really captures what each star brings to the screen flawlessly, while also managing to pull the best acting out of them. The plot is pretty serious as it involves potentially terminal illnesses, but she does a great job of keeping it sexy enough yet impactful enough to make you think about what you’d do if you truly felt your partner was better off, and safer, without you.

Judy Hologram: Adelaide

Adelaide

Whitney Wright has an impressive catalogue of work for such a young director, but my favorite movie of hers remains one of her earliest: 2019’s Adelaide from MissaX. I had the pleasure of interviewing Whitney for the debut of this film, and I was blown away by her passion for her storytelling craft. Adelaide stars Gianna Dior as manipulative young woman drawing her psychiatrist (Codey Steele) and fellow patients (Seth Gamble and Khloe Kapri) into her web of sexual deceit. It’s a twisted, erotic tale that offered a thrilling peek into just what Whitney Wright is capable of.
