“Everybody loves a chick with a dick,” Alizay Angel says with a wink in her official Twitter bio. For this Laotian star, the love began flowing freely last year when she notched a 2023 AVN nomination for Best Trans Newcomer. Discover her behind-the-scenes story in the latest HotMovies pornstar interview.
HotMovies: Your name is super fun. How did you come up with it?
Alizay Angel: I’m sure everyone’s heard of the cheap liquor “Alize” lol. I just changed the spelling up a bit. It was a name I decided to go with during my senior year of high school when I began doing drag. So Alizay has stuck with me since and I added Angel when I began doing porn. I feel it’s fun and flirty and describes my sweet innocence. 🙂
When did you know you wanted to star in porn?
Honestly, I didn’t know until it happened. I was always afraid of putting myself out there in front of the entire world and all over the internet. But after talking and meeting individuals in the industry, they made me feel good about the decision and it has began to be something that I enjoy doing.
What was your first time on set like?
I’m already a really shy person to begin with so i was definitely scared and nervous. I never knew how much work and time that goes into filming. So it was definitely a big, new, awkward experience for me.
Would you consider yourself to be more dominant or submissive in the bedroom?
I would say more submissive. I just can’t take myself serious when I try to be dominant. Lol
Grooby is such an awesome and inclusive company with a great reputation. What is it like working with them?
I’ve enjoyed it so far, I’m in Oklahoma so I’m kind of limited to who I can work with at the moment. But the producer and the male talents I have worked with have been so nice and sweet! And of course social media has been a great way to meet and chat with others that are apart of Grooby. So I would say it’s been a great experience so far!
There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes but you make it look so easy. How do you prepare for a scene?
Like I previously stated, I never knew how much work it took and it’s definitely a lot different from watching porn, to actually being in it. It’s a job, so I definitely have to mentally and physically prepare myself for it all whether it’s a solo or hardcore scene. Chatting and getting to know scene partners ahead of time helps as well and make it more comforting and easier once meeting on set. It’s not for everybody so you have to be truly dedicated to it.
Being a minority and a trans performer can sometimes present unique challenges. Have you faced any challenges so far in your career?
I don’t feel like I have, yet. It’s a big industry and I’m still a newbie trying to break through. But I think putting yourself out in the public eye like this, you have to prepare yourself for any challenges that might be thrown at you.
Which of your tattoos is your favorite and why?
I love all that I have so far, I try to get stuff that has a meaning to me. But if I had to choose it would probably be my butterflies or the small broken heart that I randomly got on a Friday the 13th special. The butterflies because I feel like it describes me becoming my true self, a little caterpillar lost and confused finding my wings and blossoming into the beautiful baddie you see today! Lol .. And the broken heart just stood out to me that day I got it and described everything that I had been going through that year and now it just reminds me that everything gets better and I can get through and overcome it all.
Do you have a favorite kink?
I don’t know, I don’t think that I do. I’m honestly kind of a basic bitch lol But getting into the industry has been helping me break out of my shell and comfort zone more. I’m always open to trying new things at least once, so maybe I’m still trying to experiment and figure out what I’d like or be into.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I haven’t traveled to many places and also never been out of the country. There’s many places I’d like to see, but to live.. probably just somewhere where the weather is perfect all year round, not too hot or too cold but like that in between fall weather.
In 20 years, where do you see yourself and your career?
I am a go with the flow, live your life type of person. I don’t really like planning or looking into the future. I’m just enjoying living in the present. So I can’t wait to see what happens or where I’ll end up in 20 years!
What’s something your fans should know about you?
I am off the market and I love potatoes lol.
What movies, TV shows, books, music, etc. are you loving lately?
I’ve been binging a lot of shows, I recently finished House of the Dragons and the latest season of Manifest. I randomly started Vampire Diaries again. I love those fantasy, action dramas and very big on corny romance. I don’t remember the last time I’ve actually read a book and music, I love all genres , just depends on my mood!
What upcoming projects are you working on?
I’ve been recovering from a recent procedure so I haven’t booked or have anything lined up yet. But so ready to get back into it!
